The Horrible Hollows
A tale of Halloween Enchantment
Snap, Dolly, and Cole, who call themselves the Hollows, are as difficult as a set of pumpkin brothers can be. Constantly quarreling and playing clever pranks, the mischievous brothers have managed to get themselves kicked out of their home and school. Their only hope is for the beautiful pumpkin fairy, Muck Olla, to enchant them. But Muck Olla only uses her magic on the biggest and baddest pumpkins, and the Hollows are definitely not on that list. The puny trio of pumpkin brothers has a chance to prove themselves worthy–that is, if they can keep themselves from being made into pumpkin pie! A testament to the power of brotherhood, The Horrible Hollows takes place in a magical world full of creepy witches, enchanting fairies, and pumpkins galore. Can the brothers band together to overcome their enemies, or will the Hollows be doomed for good?

Vivek Jyoti Jain is an author, yoga teacher, and deputy building inspector, living in California with his wife, his three children, and his dog, Stardust. He is also a graduate in Mechanical Engineering, and a researcher in the photoluminescence of ceramic mantles. Despite his many other passions, he has always enjoyed exploring folklore from around the world and creating his own imaginative stories, which he attributes to the time he spent wandering around lush rain forests as a child in India, coming up with creative games to play with his friends. His inspiration for writing the Horrible Hollows came when he was at a Halloween party with his three young sons. The boys were in line waiting for an enchantment from the Fairy Godmother, when one of the children ran off with the magic wand and a fight broke out. In the midst of all the mayhem, the wand snapped in half, leading one of the boys to remark, “Now, how are we going to be enchanted?” Fond of his middle name, Jyoti, he uses it as a pen name.
